12K


The 12K (7.46 miles) is an out and back run staged along the North Fork of the American River Canyon.  The course is 99% trails. The course begins from Cavitt Junior High School.  Runners will traverse north on the Pioneer Express Trail to the white gate nearing the entrance of the Granite Bay State Park.  Runners will cross the entrance road to the park and continue on the Pioneer Express Trail towards Granite Bay Horse Assembly.  Runners leave Granite Bay Horse Assembly and continue north towards Twin Rocks.  Runners will make the turn around at Twin Rocks.  This will be clearly marked with a sign and a course monitor.  The course runs the same route in reverse to the levee and runners will make their finish at the school on the basketball black top area.

Trail Marathon


The trail marathon course is a point to point and 99% trails. The course begins from No Hands Bridge. Runners will traverse the Western States trail to the Auburn Overlook Recreation Area. From the Overlook, runners will traverse the canal trail and descend down the infamous Cardiac Hill. Runners will head on to the Pioneer Express trail and pass through Dowdin's Post, Avery's Pond, Rattlesnake Bar, and Horseshoe Bar, Twin Rocks and Granite Bay. Runners will finish at Cavitt School.

Shuttle for Trail Marathon


  • Runners will be shuttled from the trail marathon finish area back to the start at No Hands Bridge.
  • Park at Cavitt School 
  • The shuttle will depart Cavitt School for No Hands Bridge at 5:20 A.M.
  • You may find your own transportation should you wish.
